Told entirely in letters that each character writes to the other (not unlike A. R. Gurney's seminal Love Letters), Victor L. Cahn's Roses In December is part mystery, part memoirs and part romance. A young PhD candidate named Carolyn has been assigned the task of recruiting famously reclusive author Joel Gordon to attend Alumni Weekend. Joel repeatedly declines, but Carolyn's tenacity engages them in a series of letters that deepens into a friendship revealing a secret from Gordon's past- it may bring to light who Carolyn's real father is.

The cast for Roses In December will be Tony Award-winning actor James Naughton and his daughter, actress and musicianKeira Naughton.

Mr. Naughton has been a busy man this season, directing Paul Newman in Our Town on Broadway, and appearing at the Café Carlyle later this year. Keira Naughton most recently appeared on Broadway last season in Dance Of Death starring Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren, among other Broadway and off-Broadway appearances. This will be the first time that the two have appeared on stage together. Mr. Naughton will appear in the play with his daughter until Sunday, March 9th only, at which time he will be replaced by Victor Slezak, who recently appeared on Broadway in The Graduate, as well as long-standing roles on the soap operas "Guiding Light" and "One Life To Live". Keira Naughton will continue on for the remaining two weeks of the run.

Original music written by composer and concert pianist, Sergei Dreznin> , adds a new dimention to the production. Set and lighting design will be by long-time Urban Stages’ collaborator Roman J. Tatarowicz.

Victor L. Cahn is currently teaching literature at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY. His plays have been performed in New York and in regional theaters. In January his play Fit to Kill had its' world premiere at Curtain Call Theater in Latham, NY and received excellent reviews.
