“Eleanor and Alice Roosevelt Come to Life at Urban Stages…a wonderful combination of wit and vitriol that both entertains and educates.” -Craig James, The Time Square Chronicles

“Beverley and Bacon succeed in relaying the generally contrasting demeanors and perspectives of their characters…the well-researched script highlights the impact, influence, and accomplishments of these well-connected cousins.” -Deb Miller, DC Theater Arts

“If you liked Eleanor Roosevelt before, you’ll love her after this. That alone is a reason to go. I learned so much more about the First Lady of the World as a person and her involvement with national and international efforts and achievements than I had known. What an inspiration.”
-David Walters, Front Row Center

“Mary Bacon as Alice is wickedly funny as the antithesis of society’s good girl. In contrast with Eleanor’s slow, incremental transformation from girlish giddiness over her cousin Franklin to a more measured and circumspect demeanor—which Trezana Beverley as Eleanor masters. Frances Hill’s direction effectively balances the impact of both tragedy and comedy.”
-Rachel S. Kovacs, OffOffOnline

Eleanor and Alice Roosevelt - friends, cousins, and rivals – meet at eight crucial moments over the course of their lives. They feud, laugh, commiserate, and argue over their husbands, children, the nature of politics and the state of the world. One a Democrat and one a Republican, throughout 60 years of meetings they witness a changing world from their own unique vantage points as two of the most influential women of the 20th century. Through their accomplishments, Eleanor and Alice ultimately help build a foundation that benefits women in politics today.
